KARACHI, Dec 2: Three-year-old bay filly Generosity obliged all and sundry to land the Karachi Oaks as the Gymkhana race meeting resumed after a fortnight at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

The public fancy filly, owned by KRC Steward Syed Ismail Shah, justified the confidence reposed in her as she gets the better of Pretty Lady by five-and-a-half lengths to pick up spoils in the sixth race run over seven furlongs.

With three successive wins under her belt, the filly trained by Sardar Abdul Haq was ridden home efficiently by ace jockey Ghulam Shabbir II. The owner received the glittering cup in a ceremony held in a paddock from Dr Farhan Essa, who graced the occasion.

Sweety grabbed third place four lengths behind while Dancing Rain completed the frame finishing a further 10 lengths away.In a late burst, four-year-old bay colt Behlul overtook front runners Janab Sahab and Easy To Walk to claim the Strides By Strides Stakes in the next race.

Behlul lowered the colours of public fancy Janab Sahab registering five lengths victory in a field of six starters.

Earlier, second favourite colt Shah Rukh opened his account beating favourite debutant Dallas by head in a neck-and-neck race to pick up Sire Produce Stakes in the fourth race.

Prominent jockey Mohammad Essa shone in the saddle with a splendid double (Punchi and Sherzad) in the first and third races.

Similarly, owner Mohammad Ismail and trainer Amjad Ali celebrated a brace of winners — Over Stepped and Wati Wati in the second and fifth races.

Shan-e-Sindh and Punter’s Dream returned victorious in the remaining two races.
