QUETTA, Nov 30: Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani has said that the Senate Standing Committee on Finance’s review of the provincial Public Sector Development Programme is an unconstitutional act and a violation of the provincial autonomy.

In a statement issued on Thursday, he said: “Who gave the right to the Senate Standing Committee on Finance to review the PSDP 2002-2012-13 of Balochistan and call the Balochistan chief secretary and other provincial officials to attend the next meeting of the committee to be held from Dec 3 to 5.”

The chief minister said that the acts of the standing committee were tantamount to interfering into provincial affairs.

He said the standing committee’s acts could not be tolerated and no provincial official would attend its meeting without his permission.

Mr Raisani said that PSDP had been planned for the development of Balochistan and prosperity of its people and the PSDP funds were spent to achieve these objectives.

He said it was the legislature who had constitutional and legal powers to approve the PSDP.

He said the Balochistan government had taken the notice of the `anti-Constitution’ role of the standing committee and it would register its protest at the highest level.

Mr Raisani asked the senators belonging to Balochistan to tell the masses what they had done for the province and how much development funds they had received from the federal government for the province and how many projects for Balochistan they had got included in the federal PSDP.
