KARACHI, Nov 30: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday issued notices to Chief Secretary Sindh, Sports Minister Sindh, Secretary Sports Department of Sindh and president Sindh Olympic Association (SOA) over a petition seeking allocation of funds for the upcoming Sindh Games.
The petitioner Saleem Parahca who is the general secretary Sindh Games Association and a few others submitted that the respondents were not disbursing the funds to him to organise the Sindh Games in a proper manner and stated that the sports minister and president SOA have nothing to do with organising of the Games and utilisation of funds which have been allocated by the government of Sindh for the sports department.
He said the respondents were trying to hurriedly spend the funds in a politically motivated move that could cause serious damage to sports in the province.
The petitioner submitted that chief secretary Sindh and secretary sports departments on the instruction of sports minister and president of Sindh Olympic Association got approved Rs10 million for the Annual Development Program-me without adopting any proper procedure.
Headed by the Chief Justice Mushir Alam, the division bench issued notices to respondents to file comments on the matter by Monday, Dec 3.—PPI
