LAHORE, Nov 27: The Agri Forum Pakistan (AFP) on Tuesday claimed that India has increased duty on sugar import from Pakistan by 100pc.
Talking to newsmen, forum’s chairman Ibrahim Mughal said that the lobby sitting in Islamabad and anxious to give India status of MFN should take this Indian step as an eye-opener.
He said that Pakistan could have exported 0.7 million tons of sugar to India if there had been no increase in the duty.
He said India had created many impediments in cement export from Pakistan.
He said that Pakistan would be in a position to export one million tons of sugar this year due to left-over stock of 500,000 tons of the previous year and production of the same quantity from the new crop which would be surplus than the domestic needs.
