Speedy work on four flyovers ordered

KARACHI, Nov 26: Karachi Metropolitan Corporation  Administrator Mohammad Hussain Syed has said that Shahrah-i-Pakistan is an important traffic corridor that connects city’s centre to the Superhighway and highlighted the need to complete the construction of its four flyovers at the earliest.

He stated this while inspecting ongoing works on the under-construction flyovers at four intersections on Shahrah-i-Pakistan.

He said that he would pay surprise visits to inspect the development works and any negligence found in the completion of the project would not be tolerated.

He reviewed the progress of construction works of Water Pump, Ayesha Manzil, Dakkhana and Teen Hatti and directed the officials concerned to ensure that traffic diversion plan was followed.

The administrator directed the officials concerned that all resources for construction of four flyovers be utilised to complete the project on time.

During his visit to the Ayesha Manzil flyover, the administrator was informed that the construction work of four flyovers at Shahrah-i-Pakistan was under way speedily. He was informed that transporters and businessmen were cooperating with the staff and officials associated with the project.

The administrator said that the four flyovers were planned to make Shahrah-i-Pakistan signal free in order to ease traffic congestion on this road. He added that this central corridor connected inside roads due to which complaints of traffic jam were reported in the past. It was for this reason that the project was planned, he said.

He said that the completion of corridor-V would ease traffic congestion on Marton Road, in Lasbella, PIB Colony, Nazimabad, Azizabad, Ancholi, Karimabad and the Superhighway.—PPI
