Pakistan crash out of Super Series after England defeat

KARACHI: Pakistan’s disappointing performance at the International Super Series Hockey continued as they lost 4-2 against England in nine-a-side hockey at the Perth Hockey Stadium on Friday and failed to progress to the next round.

The defeat was Pakistan’s second loss in the series after they lost to Australia by the same scoreline on Thursday.

Pakistan opened the scoring through Abdul Haseem Khan but England soon equalized. Pakistan regained the lead and were 2-1 before half-time as Umar Bhutta scored the second goal for the Greenshirts.

However, England scored three quick goals in the second half as Pakistan let their lead slip.

Pakistan next play India on Saturday and the two sides will face each other again on Sunday in the third-fourth place play-off match.

The Champions Trophy will be played after the International Super Series from December 1-9.
