LAHORE, Nov 21: The Pakistan Table Tennis Federation (PTTF) while declaring that a bogus meeting of the federation was held in Peshawar this week in which former PTTF president S.M. Sibtain was re-elected as president, has decided to withdraw the name of Sibtain from all international forums.
A PTTF spokesman in a press release issued on Wednesday said: “The unlawful and immoral conduct exhibited by former PTTF president [S.M. Sibtain] has compelled the PTTF to withdraw his name from all international table tennis forums. It is also pertinent to mention here that the PTTF was gracious enough to accede to the begging and repeated requests made by S.M. Sibtain for the continuation of his name at various international forums.
“In view of the request made by the affiliated units of the PTTF, disciplinary action shall be initiated against the individuals who are involved in disturbing the smooth and organised working of the PTTF.
“All international forums as well as sports regulatory authorities have been accordingly informed as well,” the spokesman added.
The spokesman further said that seven affiliated units of the PTTF were absent from the said meeting — namely Army, Railways, Wapda, Higher Education Commission, Habib Bank Limited, Punjab and Balochistan.
“The annual general body meeting will be convened soon to take all the affiliated units into confidence,” the spokesman added.
