Split mandate in HCBA poll

HYDERABAD, Nov 18: PPP-backed Nisar Durrani was elected president and anti-PPP candidate Ayaz Tunio was elected general secretary in the election for the Hyderabad chapter of the High Court Bar Association held here on Saturday. They defeated former advocate-general Sindh Yusuf Leghari and PPP-backed Hameedullah Dahiri, respectively, in a close contest, according to unofficial results.

Jagdesh Kumar was elected vice-president and Ishrat Lohar, who enjoyed support of both the anti- and pro-PPP groups, was elected joint secretary.—Staff Correspondent
