Air, banking services between Iran, KP proposed

PESHAWAR, Nov 18:  Governor General of Iran’s Fars province Hussein Sadek Abedien has said that he will request the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to start air and banking services between Iran and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to facilitate the people of both regions.

Mr Abedien said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Iran through bilateral cooperation in the field of education, health, banking, agriculture, industries, oil and gas and livestock can move forward because of their longstanding fraternal relationship based on Islamic traditions and culture.

This, he said, while addressing a meeting of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry at Civil Secretariat, Peshawar, which was also attended by provincial Minister for Information Mian Iftikhar Hussain.

He said that starting air and banking services between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Iran would help boost the bilateral relationships between the two peoples. He termed the visit to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa very useful.

Mr Mehrzad Kherad, DG Jehad Agriculture Organisation, Dr Mohammad Hadi Imanieh, Chancellor Sheraz University of Medical Science and Health Services and Mr Peredioun Forghani, President Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mines and Agriculture of Sheraz, also spoke on the occasion.

They underlined the need for cooperation in health sector, exchange of knowledge in the field of agriculture, livestock, fisheries and power, and maintained that Fars and Sheraz provinces of Iran had great potential in such fields.

Later, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Dr Yousaf Sarwar, and senior leaders Senator Ilyas Bilour and Ghulam Sarwar Mohmand urged the Iranian delegates for investment in the proposed oil refinery in KhyberPakhtunkhwa.

MOU SIGNED: The chancellor of Medical University of Sheraz in Iran, Dr Elimanieh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Health Syed Zahir Ali Shah signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) here on Sunday to enhance cooperation in the fields of public health, medical education and primary healthcare between the two brotherly countries.

The MoU was signed during a special ceremony held at Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC).

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Elimanieh said that they had more than 100 postgraduate specialties in the university. He said that about 800 research papers of their medical professionals were published last year.

“We are ready for exchanging student delegations, holding seminars and sharing contributions of our researchers in various fields of medical development and public health,” he said.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa health minister said on the occasion that exchange of health professionals of both the countries would go long way in analysing and getting benefit from each others' expertise and research work.
