SUKKUR, Jan 6: Two persons, who were being detained illegally at the C-Section police station, were recovered on Monday by a judicial magistrate on the orders of the district and sessions judge.

The names of the persons, recovered from illegal police custody, are: Mohammad Javed and Mohammad Hakim Ansari. They were arrested from Old Sukkur two days ago.

The raid was conducted after an application was filed by Mohammad Aslam before the sessions judge, Sukkur, on Monday.

He had complained that the SHO of the C-Section police station had arrested Mohammad Javed and Mohammad Hakim Ansari without any cause. He also stated that both of them were being kept in illegal confinement.

He had accused the SHO of demanding a huge amount in bribe for the release of the two persons. The sessions judge had immediately ordered the judicial magistrate to raid the C-Section Police station.

The raid was conducted on Monday evening and both persons were found in the police lock-up without any entry in the police station’s Roznamcha.

The judicial magistrate, while freeing the two detainees, ordered the SHO to appear before the sessions judge on Jan 7.

ACCIDENTS: At least 13 persons were injured during the past 24 hours in collisions between various vehicles in Sukkur and adjoining areas because of heavy fog.

A collision between a car and a passenger coach near the main bus terminal resulted in injuries to three persons, identified as Irfan Ahmed, Khalid Hussain, and Amir Bakhsh.

Meanwhile, seven persons were injured after an oil tanker hit a stationary wagon near the bypass. The injured have been identified as Mehboob Ali, Abdul Rehman, Khuda Bakhsh, Mujahid Baloch, Najaf Ali, Abdul Hakim, and Mohib Ali.

In another incident, one person, Karim Bakhsh, was injured after a bus hit a camel cart on the National Highway near Taj Petrol Pump in Rohri.

Two motorcyclists were injured after colliding with each other.

INJURED: Two employees of the Sukkur Municipal Corporation, Nazir Ahmed and Rafiq, were injured on Monday after shopkeepers at Minara Road scuffled with them during an anti- encroachment drive.

Three shops were demolished and goods worth hundreds of thousands of rupees were confiscated during the drive.

The traders, annoyed by the anti-encroachment drive, resisted and scuffled with the anti-encroachment staff as a result two of the municipal corporation’s employees were injured.

The police have booked three shopkeepers.
