COLOMBO: Mr K.M.P. Rajaratna, leader of the Ceylonese Jatika Vimukthi Peramuna, has called upon “the patriotic people of Ceylon, China, Burma, Nepal, Pakistan and Indonesia, who are today victims of Indian expansionism and reaction”, to form a united front against India, which is “trampling upon the rights and freedoms of the Asian People”.

In a statement on the Sino-Indian conflict published in the Ceylonese Press, Mr Rajaratna said: “Prompted by a quest for markets and greed for territorial expansion and moved by a desire to appease the imperialists, specially the United States, the Indian Government … has committed aggression into the territory of China. This action of the Indian Government stands condemned by all righteous-minded people.

“It is now more than ever clear that Mr Nehru, the Indian Prime Minister, and his Government, are only implementing the plans drawn up in Washington.

“The preparations made by the Kennedy Government to impose an embargo on Cuba and to invade it, on the one hand, and the attack on China by the India Government, on the other, have been so well synchronised.

“Mr Nehru has acted according to the timetable drawn up in Washington and he stands exposed as an imperialist masquerading as an anti-imperialist fighter. It is very significant that soon after Mr Nehru returned from Washington, he ordered border provocations by the Indian Army.

“Nehru and the Indian State monopoly capitalists want to play the same role in Asia that was played by the Imperialists,” he said. —Agencies
