ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Wednesday questioned the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) inactivity in conducting investigations in the Asghar Khan case despite the Supreme Court's orders, DawnNews reported.

Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, he said that the Islami Jamhoori Ittehad (IJI) and the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) had been created by the Inter Services Intelligences (ISI) and illegally provided with funds to contest elections.

Khan demanded that those who took money from the intelligence agencies should quit politics.

The PTI chief said that he had never taken money from ISI. If the charge was proved, he would leave politics, he challenged.

He alleged that Rs 3.5 million had doled out to Nawaz Sharif, adding that the money had come from the taxpayers’ money.

He added that certain people had turned politics into a business and were busy trying to save each other’s backs.  He also said that President Asif Ali Zardari and PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif would not do anything except create charades to serve their purposes.

Moreover, the PTI chief also said that the public had to pay for the thievery done by the rulers. He further added that the elections based on the NRO had wreaked destruction on the country.

Imran Khan also said that incase of his party coming into power, their first priority would be to raise tax collection and end corruption. He added that it was unfortunate that corruption in the country had surpassed the tax revenues.

He also said that the military should refrain from engaging in unconstitutional activities.

Imran Khan also expressed concern over the unrest in Karachi, saying that the deteriorating law and order situation in the city was adversely affecting the entire country by keeping away businessmen and investors.
