28 held for anti-US demonstration
KHAIRPUR, Oct 9: The Pir jo Goth police have booked some 150 workers of Jamiat Ulama-i-Islam (JUI) following a demonstration against the US attack on Afghanistan on Monday in the town.
Some 28 activists have been arrested. They include Abu Ubedullah Dharejo, Mohammad Usman Kumbhar, Mohammad Umer Kumbhar, Abdul Rehman Channa, Abdul Waheed Kalhoro, Khadim Hussain Bhayo, Mohammad Akhtar Malik, Ghulam Sarwar Channa, Abdul Jabbar Kalhoro, Abdul Majeed Kumbhar, Abdul Malik Kumbhar, Gulan Kanbhar, Inayat Kanbhar, Mohammad Ilyas, Kalimullah Jafri, Mohammad Moosa Kartio, Abdul Ghaffar Kumbhar, Abdul Rasheed Larik, Noor Mohammad Kumbhar, Abdul Waheed Kumbhar, Abdul Rasheed Larik, Naimatullah Kumbhar, Nasrullah Kumbhar, Abdul Fatah Kumbhar, Naeem Abbasi, Shafiq Ahmed Kumbhar and Azizullah Panhwar.
BOOKED: The assistant circle officer of Khairpur anti-corruption police has registered a case against two Daroghas of Irrigation department for taking bribe from a grower.
The complainant Wali Mohammad Gaho alleged in an FIR the Irrigation employees Ghulam and Mandhal Bhanbhro took Rs11,000 from him to open a module but failed to do so and did not return the money.
Meanwhile the in charge of anti-corruption Thari Mirwah sub-circle has presented charge sheet against seven government officials in the court of special judge anti-corruption Sukkur for allegedly taking bribe and committing misappropriations.
The officials include Tapedar Jamaluddin Pato, Tapedar Azam Unnar, Basero school clerk Ali Gul Mirjat, assistant food controller Mazhar Ali Bhutto and others.
ACCIDENT: A 35-year-old man identified as Huzoor Bukhsh Solangi was crushed to death under the wheels of a tractor trolley on the National Highway on Tuesday at Shah-ji-Machine area in taluka Sobhodero.
The deceased was crossing the road when he came under the wheels of the tractor.
The Ranipur police have arrested the tractor driver Piyar Ali.
GIRL KILLED: A five-year-old girl, Koonj Shaikh, was suddenly attacked by a crocodile who took her into its jaws and disappeared into the waters of the Nara canal at Aalo Patan, Nara Taluka, some 150 kms from here, the other day.
The girl and her elder sister were washing clothes on the embankment of the Nara canal when the crocodile suddenly appeared, snatched the younger girl by its jaws and disappeared into the water.
It may be mentioned here that there are several crocodiles in the Nara canal which often make a meal of goats and sheep which come to drink water.
MAN MISSING: Following the missing of a 23-year-old man, Shoban Pahore, since a month, his brother, M Ramzan Pahore, has lodged a case at the A-section police station, Khairpur, suspecting that he had been kidnapped by one of his fellow tribesmen.
The police have arrested a man and are interrogating him.
