LARKANA, Nov 13: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Amir Bakhsh Bhutto on Tuesday accused the Khuhros, with whom he has a dispute over land, of attacking a village with rockets and sophisticated arms.

The houses of Kuriyo clansmen in Katchi Bindi and Sharifpur villages of the kutcha lands in Larkana were attacked with rockets and automatic weapons by members of the Khuhro clan, he told a hurriedly called press conference at the Larkana residence of his father, Mumtaz Bhutto. He alleged that the Khuhros were attacking poor farmers to grab their lands and force them to quit the area.

Mr Bhutto said that he informed the Ratodero DSP and Ketti Mumtaz SHO about the attack but no police force turned up to rescue the victims.

The PML-N leader, who is facing a trial in the land dispute with Khuhros, said that the police act of not responding to their distress call was an intentional move aimed at lending support to the attackers.

He recalled that in the aftermath of an earlier incident of firing in the area, the Larkana SSP had intervened to ensure that no excesses were committed by either party in future but the fresh incident of armed attack was ignored by the police, who played the role of silent spectators.

He alleged that the Khuhros with the support of government were trying to get the record of certain lands ownership changed though the matter had already been settled by a court in 1990. “The original record of the land is also with us,” he said, and said that he would move court against the police and the attempts to change the revenue record.
