LAHORE, Nov 12: Pakistan has won four more gold medals in ju-jitsu event. Its baseball team has qualified for the final against Sri Lanka in the Punjab International Sports Festival here on Monday.

The achievements in the ju-jitsu have increased the gold medal tally of Pakistan to 11 in the festival. In ju-jitsu, Pakistan won gold medals in 85kgs, 77 kgs, Doo system and mix Doo system. With the addition of four gold medals, now Pakistan have won the overall trophy of ju-jitsu with seven gold medals in its bag.

In the baseball, Nepal beat Afghanistan 17-9 to secure third position at the Model Town ground. Karishna from Nepal scored four runs, while Nabin Ale (3), Arjun (3), Isore (2), and Ram Paryar, Abhishek, Anil Paryar, Bijay and Nabin scored one each. Afghanistan’s Tahir, Nasim, Abdur Rehman and Shair Ahmed were the key scorers.

In Monday’s matches of international touch-ball, Afghanistan got walkover against Somalia while hosts Pakistan in a dress rehearsal of the coming final beat Sri Lanka 3-1 in the last league match.

Mazhar Iqbal of Pakistan scored two. Amjad Waseem supported him with one score. Pakistan will now take on Sri Lanka again in the final on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, in the fist-ball final, Pakistan will clash with Nepal on Tuesday. Now Pakistan will face Nepal in the final while Sri Lanka and Punjab will play for a third-position match.

In the football event, Yemen entered the final where it will face Serbia. Yemen outplayed Punjab Whites 5-0 in the semi-final. Alex of Yemen masterminded three goals while James Teddy and Saleh Abdul Kareem shared one goal each.
