'Andy Flower should take a break'

England's coach Andy Flower has been advised to take a break by assistant coach Richard Halsall, ahead of a busy schedule for the team.

England are set to play a Test and ODI series in India followed by a series against New Zealand before the Champions Trophy and series against Australia.

"With the fixtures over the next 18 months it would only be right for Andy to have a break at some stage alongside some senior players," Halsall told BBC Sport.

Halsall, who filled in during the summer for one ODI as Flower took a break, said he would happily do so again but was unsure about his experience.

"Stepping in for the odd game at the end of a series once all those routines have been set up and the major decisions have been taken is fine.

The assistant coach said he had not discussed this proposal with the Flower.

"I think with all our senior men, to keep them involved in England cricket as long as possible, some decisions are going to have to be made - including the coach."
