Asif loses Dubai final

KARACHI, Nov 10: Thailand’s Noppon Saengkham won the Dubai International Open Snooker Championship after inflicting a 5-2 defeat on Pakistan’s top cueist Mohammad Asif in the final on Saturday.

According to the result made available here, the Thai was home 61-10, 49-60, 60-40, 69-9, 31-63, 74-27, 64-46.

Asif had blanked Hong Kong’s Andy Lee 5-0 in the semi-final the other day while his compatriot Asjad Iqbal met his fate in the quarter-final.

Both the cueists are due to arrive here from Dubai on Sunday.—Sports Correspondent
