Burn victim dies

GUJAR KHAN, Nov 10: The under investigation, proclaimed offender, who had reportedly sustained burn injuries in the lock up in Mandra police station, two days ago, breathed his last in the holy family hospital, Rawalpindi. The victim had allegedly tried to commit suicide.

While ASP Gujar Khan, Ms Saba Sittar repeated her claim of holding an inquiry against those who were negligent, as according to rules a person in custody should not have had access to a match box.

According to police sources, on Thursday morning, Sadaqat alias Shoku, a proclaimed offender was found half-burnt inside the lock up, and supposedly it all happened when he was trying to light a cigarette.

So far an inquiry conducted by the local police has been inconclusive, and they have tried to come up with all kinds of excuses.

ASP Ms Sittar when contacted by this reporter repeated her claim that the inquiry was still in progress. —Correspondent
