KARACHI: Pakistan's national swimming champion Kiran Khan is set to make a comeback for the national team in the upcoming Asian Swimming Championship in Dubai.

The event which is set to take place from November 17 will also feature Areesha Saif, Anisha, Liana Swann and Sikander Khan from Pakistan.

Khan, who represented Pakistan at the 2008 Olympics, feels that her inclusion in the the squad for the Asian event is not significant.

“I’m surprised that the Pakistan Swimming Federation considered me after all this time. I’m thankful to them, but it’s not a major event. It’s more appropriate for the juniors. I’m just participating in it because I want to represent my country,” she told a local newspaper.

Khan criticised the schedule of the upcoming National Games, saying that swimming in winters will be bad for the swimmers.

“I am surprised the federation is ignoring basic factors. I have to go to a public pool to practice and the winters will pose problems for me as the swimming season is off then. Plus it’s bad for the fitness and health of the swimmers,” she said.
