LAHORE, Nov 8: The Water and Sanitation Agency on Thursday directed the officials concerned to seek police cooperation for the recovery of dues from defaulters.

“As the situation is worsening gradually, mainly at the Aziz Bhatti Town, the respective town administration should ensure 100 per cent recovery. And they should even involve the local police in recovering dues from thousands of defaulters,” Wasa Managing Director Mian Abdullah said while directing the officials in a meeting during his visit to the town. He took serious notice of making installments of bills by the lower staff, saying only the deputy director and the director (revenue) were authorised to make four and six installments, respectively. He asked the newly-recruited assistant directors (recovery) to also meet personally to the defaulters of over Rs50,000 and ensure payment.

APPRECIATION: The City District Government of Lahore on Thursday organised a ceremony to award cash prizes and certificates to those town officials who showed good performance during the anti-dengue campaign 2012.

Speaking on the occasion, the DCO appreciated performance of the officials in this regard, requesting them to maintain the enthusiasm in future too. Earlier, he awarded shields/certificates with cash prizes to various officials of Nishtar, Iqbal and Aziz Bhatti towns.

CANCELLATION: The District Road Transportation Authority on Thursday cancelled route permits of five inter-city buses after their owners/conductors were found involved in overcharging the passengers despite decrease in the fares of CNG-run buses.

The DRTA secretary also imposed fine on 13 other transporters for overcharging, says a press release.

POLIO DRIVE: The CDGL will hold another round of a three-day polio drive from Nov 12.

In a meeting that was held and presided over by the DCO here on Thursday, the officials were asked to achieve 100 per cent coverage of all children of up to five years of age.
