Parliament supreme, says Fazl

QUETTA, Nov 7: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-F (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that parliament is supreme and all institutions should acknowledge its supremacy.

Talking to reporters after his arrival here on Wednesday, he reiterated that foreign policy and other national policies should be devised in the light of resolutions adopted by parliament.

Maulana Fazl said the recent speeches of the chief justice and the chief of the army staff had been scheduled beforehand. If the feelings expressed in the speeches had been aired 65 years ago the situation would have been quite different.  He said that holding elections was a routine process but the government should have two priorities — to protect the people and take steps for strengthening the economy.
