LAHORE, Nov 4: All provinces are preparing for a meeting of the Council of Common Interests that is likely to be held in Islamabad on November 8 to consider a number of issues, mainly the revival of the Pakistan Railways.

Sources told Dawn on Sunday the meeting would be briefed on the ways and means to improve the railways working. A decision in this regard was also likely in consultation with provinces which were finalising their own suggestions in this regard.

Another main item on the meeting agenda was resolving the energy crisis and improving the role of National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra).

The meeting would also discuss a proposal by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to give representation to provinces in all federal government entities. The proposal to fix 50 per cent job quota for all the federating units in the federal departments had already been endorsed by the provinces.
