Two killed on road
PPER DIR, Nov 4: Two people were killed and four others injured when a vehicle taking a dead body from Chitral to Mohmand Agency fell into a ravine near Lowari top in Upper Dir on Sunday.
Officials at Dir police station said the accident occurred on the snow-bound hilly track between Upper Dir and Chitral districts. Police identified the victims as Khan and Said Rehman, residents of Mohmand Agency.
Four injured were identified as Malizay, Sher, Muddat and Saad Mohammad. They were shifted to the district headquarters hospital.
Police said the accident was caused by negligence of the driver, Said Rehman, who was also among the dead.—Correspondent Two bombs defused
MIRAMSHAH, Nov 4: The security forces defused two remote controlled bombs on Miramshah-Dattakhel road here on Sunday.
Sources said that Political Agent North Waziristan Agency Siraj Ahmad Khan imposed curfew in different areas of the agency on Sunday. During the curfew, the security forces conducted a search operation and detected two remote controlled bombs planted along the road. The bomb experts successfully defused the bombs and averted a big disaster. The curfew remained imposed from 6am till 5pm.
Meanwhile, unidentified militants blew up a CD shop in the Miramshah bazaar on the night between Saturday and Sunday.—Correspondent
Saifullah brothers criticised
LAKKI MARWAT, Nov 4: Elders of Tajazai have expressed anger over ignoring the youth in recent recruitments in health department and held Saifullah brothers responsible for usurping their rights.
At a protest meeting on Sunday, they said in 1993 the villagers had provided lands worth millions of rupees on nominal rates to build district headquarters hospital and district headquarters complex near Tajazai.
They maintained Saifullah brothers had promised that residents of Tajazai would be recruited against the posts of class four employees in hospital and other government departments.
“But the influential political family did not fulfill promises rather it paved the way for appointment of people from other localities of the district,” they disclosed.
The residents said in recent months over 70 vacant posts of different categories were filled in the health department without recruiting a single person from Tajazai. They vowed not to tolerate usurping of their rights anymore.—Correspondent
Free physiotherapy service
PESHAWAR, Nov 4: Habib Physiotherapy Complex Hayatabad has started free physical therapy to poor people paralysed in war against terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Fata.
It has been observed that majority of patients are unable to pay for the cost of physiotherapy, according to a press release.
People who sustained injuries should undergo physiotherapy exercises to be able to become normal people. Free treatment of such patients was aimed to lessen the burden of disabilities which was already 10 per cent in the province and Fata.
The complex had supported thousands of patients by providing physiotherapy, rehabilitation, speech therapy, psychotherapy, walking aids and wheelchairs to them besides offering free admission and rehabilitation facilities.
Patients who have polio, cerebral palsy, hemiplegics or paralysis due to bomb blasts have been asked to get physical therapy and prevent themselves from being disabled.—Bureau Report
Suicide attack condemned
PESHAWAR, Nov 4: Chairman of the Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao on Sunday condemned Buner suicide attack in which his party leader Fateh Khan was killed.
In a statement issued here, he said Pakhtuns would continue to lose leaders if proper strategy to improve law and order was not worked out.
Talking about his party agenda, he said multinational companies in connivance with corrupt and dishonest elements were exploiting the resources of this region. He said QWP would continue struggle to end the reign of all such elements.
Mr Sherpao said days of traditional nationalism were over and QWP’s neo-nationalist politics would better protect the rights of Pakhtuns,” he said. “Our struggle is to protect the rights of Pakhtuns and utilise resources of the region for their betterment,” he added.
QWP chairman criticised ANP and said so-called nationalists had failed to deliver as living standard of Pakhtuns had further deteriorated.—Bureau Report
Hindko conference
PESHAWAR, Nov 4: The Ghandhara Hindko Board will hold a two days International Hindko Conference here on November 17 and 18.
According to a press release issued here on Sunday, the Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Barrister Masood Kusar and Chief Minister Ameer Haider Hoti would be the chief guests on each day of the conference, respectively.
The conference would be organised with the support of the provincial government. Hindko speakers from across the world will participate in the conference.—Bureau Report
