SHIKARPUR, Jan 4: The deputy speaker of the Sindh Assembly, Rahila Tiwana, said on Saturday that she would strive for the betterment of the socio-economic conditions of the women in Sindh.

She said this while speaking at the local press club.

The deputy speaker of the Sindh Assembly also said that she would also strive for better job opportunities for the youths of the province.

She said that the people of the country, specially in Sindh, had been deprived of their basic rights and were facing unbearable problems because of the wrong policies of the previous governments.

She said that she would try to resolve the problems of Sindh by raising them on the floor of the Sindh Assembly as well as in the meetings of the provincial cabinet.

She said that the Sindh Democratic Alliance (SDA) had provided an alternate political leadership in the province, adding that the party would strive to restore the usurped rights of Sindh.

Ms Tiwana rejected the opinion that the people of Sindh committed atrocities against women because of narrow-mindedness.

She said that the people of Sindh were peace loving and were trying their level best to protect the honour of the women community.

However, the deputy speaker of the Sindh Assembly said that she would continue her struggle against the inhuman tradition of Karo-kari to give legal protection to women who were being murdered on the pretext of Karo-Kari.

FREED: Two brothers, Naresh Kumar and Engineer Lal, who had been kidnapped near Karampur Laro three days ago, were freed by the police after an encounter with the dacoits near Dilel Jatoi Pattan on Friday night.

Dacoits managed to escape.

The kidnapping victims were released by the police as they were being handed over to another group of dacoits.
