LAHORE, Nov 2: PPP Punjab President Manzoor Wattoo has asked the chief justice of Pakistan to take notice of the Punjab government’s decision to spend Rs70 billion on a single road in Lahore.
Talking to reporters here on Friday, he said the people of other districts were questioning the logic of spending such a huge amount on a single (bus) project.
Flanked by Munir Ahmed Khan and Zakriya Butt, Mr Wattoo said he would make the issues of the landless peasants and residents of slums part of its election campaign.
“We will solve their problems if the PPP comes to power in Punjab,” he said, adding that during his tenure as chief minister in Punjab he got approved a law to give proprietary rights to the landless peasants but the Shahbaz Sharif government did not implement the law.
He said the PML-Q had no reservations about his appointment as the PPP Punjab president. “Chaudhry Shujaat in fact felicitated me on joining the post,” he added.
He said the JUP (Niazi group) wanted to make an election alliance with the PPP and he had formed a committee to work out the modalities.
