FAISALABAD, Jan 4: The entire city and its rural areas are in the grip of outlaws and incidents of broad daylight dacoities and highway robberies have become the order of the day due to the negligence of police.
Eight to 10 incidents occur daily in which bandits take away valuables and cash. Highways and main city roads have become havens for the criminals as the incidents of vehicle snatching are alarmingly on the rise for the last several months.
In the teeth of standing instructions from the Punjab Chief Minister, the police have failed to check the upward trend of dacoities and other heinous crimes.
The last 24 hours were not exceptional either as the outlaws struck 10 times and made off with cash, ornaments, and hijacked seven motorcycles besides killing a villager in different parts of the district.
An aged villager, Shamshair Ali, was shot dead by two unidentified bandits when he put up resistance to foil their bid to snatch his horse in Mian Malan village, Tandlianwala.
Three masked bandits snatched thousands of rupees in cash and ornaments from the family members of Tanvir at a house in Khayaban Colony in the limits of Peoples Colony police station.

POISONED TO DEATH: A woman allegedly poisoned to death her husband in Batala Colony here on Saturday.
Boota Masih contracted his second marriage with a girl of his family without taking into confidence his first wife, Nasreen. On Saturday, Boota was served meal by his first wife due to which he became unconscious. He was shifted to hospital where doctors pronounced him dead due to poison. Police arrested Nasreen and booked her under the law.
CRUSHED: A truck driver on Saturday deliberately crushed to death a young salesman of filling station over a minor dispute in Thikriwala on Saturday.
Muhammad Akram had the petrol tank of his truck filled on credit some time back. When salesman Rafique demanded the money back, Akram crushed him to death and sped away.
Police have registered a case against the absconding driver.
