HYDERABAD, Jan 4: Renowned Sindhi poet and writer, Niaz Humayooni, 78, breathed his last here on Friday night at his Mohammadi Plaza residence.
He suffered a severe heart attack and died before he could be rushed to hospital. He was laid to rest at the Baban Shah graveyard on Saturday. He leaves behind two sons and two daughters.
Mr Humayooni was born in Shikarpur in 1925 and had been living in Hyderabad for the past 25 years. He believed in the nationalistic philosophy of G. M. Syed and his book Dharti Ja Geet, published in 80s, had been banned by the then government. He had translated Shah Jo Risalo in Persian.
