KARACHI, Oct 30: A total of 31 welfare organisations, including nine seminaries, were given permission to collect hides of sacrificial animals during Eidul Azha in the city.

These organisations were allowed by the commissioner’s secretariat to collect hides throughout Karachi.Besides the secretariat, mostly Madaris and local-level community service provider bodies had also taken permission from their respective deputy commissioners of South,East, West, Central and Malir to collect hides on the basis of their social work.

Under the policy, the deputy commissioners only allowed the area mosques and religious Madaris having no link with any political organisation or banned outfits.

This year the hide-collecting institutions were not allowed to go door to door and collect hides except after receiving call from donors. At the place of collection of hides by stakeholder organisations, security personnel were deployed to check snatching incidents.
