Governor for national unity to counter challenges

PESHAWAR, Oct 26: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Masood Kausar on Friday appealed to the people to maintain unity and harmony and refresh their spirit to be ready to offer any sacrifice for security and prosperity of the country.

He said this in the Eidul Azha message issued here.

The governor said enabling the deserving and destitute to share the festivities of Eidul Azha, the festival of sacrifices was indeed the core spirit of the holy occasion which was upheld as the sacrosanct responsibility.

“On the solemn occasion, I congratulate the countrymen in general and the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Fata in particular.

Since sharing festivities, upholding spirit of brotherhood and taking the fellow beings along in Eid happiness are the core aspects of this Islamic festival and therefore, there is a need to take fullest advantage of the solemn occasion to refresh and strengthen the bonds of fraternity, cohesion and social integrity at every level,” he said.

Mr Kausar said he would like to remind the countrymen in general and the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Fata in particular about the difficult circumstances, which they had been coming across for quite some time.

He extended support and help to the families of those who laid down life for peace and stability in the country and said they must be upheld to the optimum level.

CM CALLS FOR INTERFAITH HARMONY: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti on Friday said the current challenges confronting the nation demanded us promotion of brotherhood, religious harmony and mutual unity in the country.

He said this in his Eidul Azha message issued here.

The chief minister said Eidul Azha gave the people the lesson of patience, tolerance, total submission to Almighty Allah and pleasing Him in testing times.

He appealed to the people, especially politicians, for unity on eradication of terrorism and establishment of peace regardless of political ideologies and affiliations.

Mr Hoti extended Eid greetings to Pakistanis, including those performing Hajj. — APP
