KARACHI, Oct 26: The sixth NBP Cup Inter-district basketball tournament begins at the Arambagh court next Friday (Nov 2) with 12 teams from five divisions of the province vying for honours.
Four divisional teams — Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Sukkur and Larkana — join eight teams from Karachi — two apiece from district South, East and Central and one each from district West and Malir.
The teams have been equally drawn into four groups and on completion of league, top two teams from each will qualify for the quarter-finals which will be played on Nov 5 and 6.
The semi-finals are slated for Nov 7 while the final takes place the following day.
Organising secretary of the event, former international Abdul Nasir, said on Friday that outstation teams will be lodged at the PSB Coaching Centre. They will be provided remuneration to meet their travel expenses, he added.
He further said that all the matches will be played under lights.
Pools:Group ‘A’: South ‘Whites’, Central ‘Greens’ and Larkana.
Group ‘B’: East ‘Greens’, West and Sukkur.
Group ‘C’: Central ‘Whites’, East ‘Whites’ and Mirpurkhas.
Group ‘D’: South ‘Greens’, Mali and Hyderabad.
