LAKKI MARWAT, Oct 25: Two youngsters on Thursday killed each other over a dispute in a cricket match in Wanda Painda Khan area.
Police said Waseem Akram and Zakir Shah fired gunshots at each other after having a heated exchange during the match, leading to their instant deaths.They said the two were later named in FIRs lodged by the respective families.
Also in the day, a man was killed over a dispute in Gulapa village in the limits of Dadiwala police station.
Rehmatullah told police that he along with his cousin, Nazir, was present at Ahmad Jan’s house when their rivals, including Jangzeb, Aurangzeb, Rafiullah and Naimatullah, turned up and opened fire on them.
He said the firing instantly killed Nazir, while he survived for taking shelter in a room.
Police registered a case against the accused, all residents of Bergi Hakim Khan area, and began investigation.
EID GIFTS DISTRIBUTED: District police officer, Lakki Marwat Idrees Khan on Thursday distributed Eid gifts to relatives of the policemen, who died on duty, during a function here.
Speaking on the function, the DPO said people would always remember sacrifices of policemen, who laid down life for protection of their life and property.
“The entire police department is proud of its men for rendering matchless sacrifices in the fight against militancy and terrorism,” he said.
He said police had restored peace in the district by defeating terrorism and militancy by and large.
SAIFULLAH TO MEET PPP WORKERS: Pakistan People’s Party, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa president and MPA Anwar Saifullah on Thursday said he would visit every district of the province to meet workers to remove their grievances.
Speaking at a public meeting in Mammakhel area near Naurang town, Mr Saifullah said PPP would form the next government in the province after sweeping elections.
He said he would contest election against former provincial chief minister Akram Durrani.
The PPP leader said the candidates backed by PPP and his family would clinch national and provincial assembly seats in the district during the next elections.
Among others, People’s Lawyers Forum president Iqbal Hussain and Lakki district bar president Naimatullah Khan also spoke on the occasion.
