LAHORE: A cool late October night at a local club gained temperatures when pop singer Hadiqa Kayani turned a crowd of hundreds crazy with some dynamo mixed rock singing.

Wolf whistles by a passionate crowd of youngsters and informal dancing to the hit numbers by singers made the night a special one both for the performers and the audience.

This fiery music night was organised in connection with World Polio Day by Unicef-Pakistan at the Royal Palm Country Club on Wednesday.

Amidst flash of cameras and multi-coloured disco lights, Hadiqa uncapped the night with a romantic soft number Hona Tha Piyar. Next was her celebrated Punjabi number Buhay Barian (the song that earned her immense popularity) to which response was huge as most of the youngsters in the crowd were clapping and dancing. Her Pushto number Janan that made many to sing along as she turned the mike to the audience, also earned the singer huge appreciation and continuous clapping.

Mun Ki Mauj Mein and Aaj Rang Hai were also received with great fervor by an audience which was highly responsive. In between her performance, Hadiqa kept urging people to fight hard against polio and help eradicate this menace. “Two drops every child every time” was the slogan she repeatedly raised.

Clad in a black trouser and black top with shimmering silver embroidery on it, the singer thoroughly enjoyed the live response of audience as she kept smiling and occasionally dancing with the songs.

As there was no seating arrangement for the audience, the youngsters were mostly on their feet, perhaps enjoying more as they kept dancing to different numbers. Special guests, however, were provided sofas and chairs.
