Legends show on FPW last day

KARACHI: Before the opening of the ramp shows on the third and last day of Fashion Pakistan Week, Saniya Maskatiya unveiled her new collection.

The first designer for the day was Maheen Karim who showed military chic and oriental excellence in plush velvets and georgettes for the winter wardrobe. Suits, harem pants, lace-draped boleros, gilded blacks, bronzes, magentas with Swarovski crystals featured here with handbags by Fashion Compassion and Kiran Aman jewellery.

Prickly porcupine sleeves in gold, a Shanghai fabric pantsuit on model Rubya Chaudhry, gold harem pants and cocktail dresses, and an embroidered chest piece worn by Neha stood out. Next, Emran Rajput showed menswear and womenswear in colour blocking technique and pleating, quilt stitch work with earth-tone pants. Nida Tapal for Delphi focused on Pipya who brought the will of Apollo to earth. Chic coats, tunics, cocktail dresses in globally-appreciated crochet with embellishments such as pearls, metals and regal silk defined the collection featuring a stand alone beige sari and Sadaf Malaterre as the showstopper.

Evoking the Serpent by Rizwanullah was all about print on cottons, silks, muslin and jersey with leatherite infusion. Very urban chic, dark and somewhat gothic but with a passion for beauty and a drive to look beautiful was what it was all about in its essence.

The best dressed red carpet celebrity awards were given to Safinaz Muneer and Nomi Ansari after which Huma Adnan for FnkAsia showed Out of Africa. The collection provides Asian women access to urban chic and diverse fashion trends. Mughal, Kashmiri, Persian and Afghan influences define outfits for the perfect modern women. As a result earthen tones on thick weave outfits and long colourful tassels abounded in the collection with a strong tribal influence. Outstanding cuts with the wearability factor of prime importance remained in focus throughout. Modified chest pieces formed elaborate necklines on long dresses with handbag accessories, woven headbands, neck pieces, wraps, etc.

Misha Lakhani was an amalgamation of timeless aesthetics with modern sensibilities and a refined extension of old India coupled with international chic. This was followed by Ayesha Ahmed and Faisal Jamil for Nine West’s footwear and accessories show.

The Karachi 6 segment featured fashion bigwigs Shehla Chatoor, Amir Adnan, Sadaf Malaterre, Shamaeel Ansari, Maheen Khan and Deepak Perwani. It served as a fitting conclusion to the three-day event.

It is noteworthy that the first segment on each day featured hair by Toni&Guy with the rest executed by Saba Ansari and the Sabs team.
