Police fill key posts in Peshawar

PESHAWAR, Oct 22: Police on Monday filled vacant positions of senior superintendent of police (operations) and superintendent of police (rural circle) in Peshawar by posting some senior officials to them.

According to a spokesman for police, SP (special branch) Imran Shahid has been made SSP (operations) and SP (headquarters) Javaid Khan SP (rural circle).

The SSP (operation) post fell vacant after Tahir Ayub Khan left many weeks ago to attend a professional course, while the post of SP (rural) had been vacant since the killing of incumbent Khurshid Khan by militants in Mattani area on Oct 15, 2012.

An official of the rural circle police said the frequent attacks had forced police to plan the launch of a ‘cleanup operation’ against militants on the outskirts of Peshawar but none of senior officials was ready to lead it.

After Oct 15, the rural circle police was supervised by a deputy superintendent of police.
