DADU, Oct 20: Four separate protests were held in Dadu town on Saturday to condemn the attack on Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) MPA Kulsoom Akhtar Chandio who was wounded in an attack in Karachi on Friday evening. Three demonstrations were organised by PPP activists while the fourth one was held by the Sindh Chandio Welfare Association.

A rally, organised under the leadership of Dadu PPP president Abdul Karim Mallah, emerged from Mazdoor Mohalla and culminated at the press club. While addressing the rally, Mr Mallah condemned the attack on MPA Kulsoom Akhtar and regretted that the government had not yet taken any action against the terrorists.

Another rally was organised by the PPP activists from the new bus stand to the press club, led by the district president of PPP’s student wing, Sindh People’s Student Federation, Gul Hassan Qambrani. The protesters blocked Kutchery road, blocking traffic.

The third PPP rally emerged from the house of PPP MNA Rafique Ahmed Jamali and was led by local PPP leader, Mohammad Omer Panhwar. While addressing the protesters, Mr Panhwar warned that a province-wide strike will be launched if the Sindh police did not catch the attackers.

The fourth rally was held by the Sindh Chandio Welfare Association. The protesters marched from the municipal park to the press club. The protesters were led by the association’s leaders, Bahadur Chandio and Imtiaz Chandio, who appealed to the Sindh chief minister to take notice of the attack and issue orders to the police to arrest the culprits.

The PPP supporters in other areas, Johi, Mehar, Khairpur Nathan Shah, Sehwan and Kotri, also organised protests and demonstrations to against the attack on the PPP MPA.
