Accidental deaths rate on the rise

BAJAUR, Jan 2: Almost 120 accidental deaths were recorded in 2002 in the agency and 160 people were injured in accidents.

According to a survey conducted by this correspondent, most of the people who died in accidents were women and children.

Most of the casualties were caused by mines.

About 30 men died owing to personal enmities. At least five people, including two women, committed suicide and 15 died in road accidents.

According to an official report, 300 suspects were arrested by the law enforcement agencies.

As many 130 Afghans were taken into custody while crossing the border.

During an action against poppy cultivators, 120 people were arrested.

The crime-rate increased drastically. Almost three dozen vehicles were stolen and 20 people were kidnapped for ransom.
