Grossman to visit Pakistan for talks on Afghanistan: FO

ISLAMABAD: The United States’ Special Representative, Marc Grossman, would be visiting Pakistan soon for bilateral talks on the situation in Afghanistan, the Foreign Office spokesperson said Thursday.

During a weekly Foreign Office briefing here, spokesman Moazzam Ali Khan said that other matters of mutual interest would also be discussed during Grossman’s visit.

He added that the visit was aimed at promoting the bilateral relations between the US and Pakistan and that Grossman will discuss Afghanistan and regional security situations with the Pakistani officials.

However, Khan refrained from commenting upon the possibility of an operation in North Waziristan.

He further added that Russia and Pakistan sought peace in Afghanistan.

The spokesman also condemned the Taliban attack on 14-year-old activist Malala Yousafzai, saying that it was an unfortunate incident.

Moreover, he also informed media representatives that the government had not contacted them in regard to the letter to the Swiss authorities.
