QUETTA, Oct 17: Doctors working in government hospitals in Quetta went on a three-day strike starting Wednesday in response to a call of the Balochistan chapter of Pakistan Medical Association in protest against the kidnapping of a senior eye specialist.

Dr Saeed was kidnapped on Tuesday night.

A meeting held with Dr Sultan Tareen, president of the PMA Balochistan, in the chair took the decision to observe the strike.

The out-patient departments and operation theatres in government hospitals remained closed on Wednesday. Casualty wards, however, functioned as usual.

The PMA meeting also decided that if the government failed to arrest the kidnappers till Oct 30 then all doctors would tender their resignations on Oct 31.
