Stalls on greenbelts: CDA asked to submit report

ISLAMABAD, Oct 17: Justice Noorul Haq N Qureshi of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday issued notices to the capital development authority (CDA) seeking detailed report regarding the allotments of stalls in to the greenbelts of Islamabad.

Citing the chairman CDA and its member environment, the petitioner Vice Admiral (retired) Ahmad Tasnim has adopted before the court that due to the negligence on part of the civic authority, there has been a mushroom growth of stalls at the public places. They are not only creating hindrance in movement of the public but also encroaching upon the greenbelts.

Jahangir Jadoon, counsel for the petitioner, told the court that Islamabad being capital such encroachments left a bad impression among diplomatic community.

He requested the court to pass an order for removal of the stalls from the public parks and greenbelts.

The court directed CDA to submit report within 15 days.
