Killed for a song

ATTOCK, Oct 16: A man has killed his aunt in Muzaffarabad village, when she stopped him from listening to a song on his mobile phone.

Police sources said that Fatima Bibi, wife of Muslim Gul Khan was busy in her house, when her husband’s nephew Nazakat Khan arrived. The nephew was listening to a song on his mobile.

The house wife asked him to stop but he got infuriated and later attacked his aunt with a pistol and escaped from the scene. As a result she died on the spot.

The police rushed to the scene and shifted the body to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Jand, for postmortem.

The police on the report of the deceased woman’s husband, Muslim Gul Khan registered a murder case against the accused Nazakat Khan and are investigating the case. — Correspondent

Mutilated body found

TAXILA, Oct 16: The mutilated body of a man abducted for ransom two months ago was recovered from a well in Pind Mehri in the limits of Hassanabdal police on Tuesday.

Police sources said Saleh Mohammad, 40, a close relative of a judicial officer, was abducted from Usmanabad on August 29. Since the money could not be provided, he was killed and his body thrown in a 120-foot deep well.

Upon receiving information, the police, with the help of Rescue 1122, recovered the body and registered a case against the abductors. Further investigations are underway. — Correspondent

Train service

RAWALPINDI, Oct 16: The Jaffar Express will resume its operation from Rawalpindi to Quetta on Wednesday.

The Pakistan Railways had stopped the service on September 13 after floods destroyed tracks in Jacobabad district.

Despite the availability of funds, it took more than a month to repair the tracks on the Jacobabad-Sibi section.

Pakistan Railways’ Rawalpindi District Commercial Officer (DCO) Usman Anwar said the train would leave the city on Wednesday morning and reach Quetta on Thursday. He said the booking for tickets had started. — A Reporter

Action against middle men

RAWALPINDI, Oct 16: The Rawal Town Municipal Administration (RTMA) on Tuesday banned the entry of strangers into the building department aimed to eliminate corruption through the middle men.

Saif Anwar Jappa, the town administrator, told Dawn that middle men were taking bribes from the applicants for the approval of building plans.

“Some black sheep in the civic body are also involved in the malpractice. I have barred the entry of strangers except those coming for approval of building plans,” he said.

After the directives, an official was deployed at the entrance to register the names of the visitors and the purpose of their visit. Banners with the contact numbers of the administrator were also installed on the building, asking the public to report if anyone asked for bribe.

“The basic aim is to make the system corruption free and facilitate the general public,” said Mr Jappa. — A Reporter

Kidnappers arrested

ATTOCK, Oct 16: Police have arrested   a gang of kidnappers who were involved in the murder and kidnapping of a young boy.

The district police spokesman has informed local newsmen here on Tuesday that a young boy Muhammad Suhalah, son of Muhammad Khan resident of Utmanabad village, Attock, was kidnapped by some unknown kidnappers on Sept 29 and who demanded Rs12 million as ransom.

On the complaint of the father, the Saddar Hasanabdal Police registered a kidnapping for ransom case against the unknown kidnappers and started the investigation.

A police team during the investigation traced the accused kidnappers from the mobile data of cell phones, used to communicate with the relatives of the kidnapped boy.

Later, all four kidnappers Sher Ali, Rozi Khan, Islam and Dill Nawz residents of Swat were arrested.

During the interrogation, they disclosed to the police that they had killed the boy Muhammad Suhalah on failure to pay ransom money and later threw his body in a deserted well near Pind Mehri village.

On identification, police team led by SP Investigation Abbass Majid Marwat rushed to the area and recovered the body from the well with the help of Rescue 1122 and shifted it to the Tehsil Headquarters hospital for postmortem. — Correspondent
