Promotions in railways

ISLAMABAD, Oct 10: The civil servants in Railways Group are likely to be considered for promotion in Grade 22.

Principal secretary to the prime minister, during a hearing of a petition of a senior railway officer on Wednesday informed the Islamabad High Court (IHC) that a summary in this regard had been sent to the prime minister.

Currently, the senior officers of Grade 21 working in Railways Group are not entitled for promotion in Grade 22 and the proposed amendment in the rules would help 110 civil servants, working in Grade 17 to Grade 21, get promotion in the highest grade of civil bureaucracy.

Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui of Islamabad High Court (IHC) was hearing the petition of Junaid Qureshi, a Grade 21 officer of Railways Group.

Principal secretary to the prime minister Ayub Qazi told the court that if the prime minister approved the summery, the name of the petitioner was likely to be considered for promotion in the next meeting of the selection board.
