IMRAN Khan’s long march to South Waziristan was meaningless. Holding a rally in South Waziristan was of no use. It might help Imran Khan only in gaining cheap popularity.
Tribes in Waziristan cannot be of any help in ending the ongoing war on terror and in stopping the US drone attacks by militants of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Imran Khan should, in fact, find out who the creators of the TTP are and why they are attacking inside Pakistan.
The people of Waziristan are peaceful and are true Muslims.
They can never think of blowing mosques, shrines and girls schools but militants of the TTP do. I suggest Imran Khan should visit Kabul and rather find out from the CIA, RAW and Afghan intelligence agencies: who is behind the TTP.

PML(N) leader ACCORDING to a news report (Oct 8), Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) leader Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has stated that Imran Khan has insulted the tribal people by throwing the turban presented to him by tribal elders to his supporters after the public meeting at Tank.
The PML leader laments that the tribal elders are offended and hurt by this childish act.
It is quite obvious that the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) leader is trying to make an issue out of a very innocent action of Mr Khan who was exited at the huge success of his peace rally and the attention which his rally received from the national and international media.
The fact is that sportsman in Khan came out when he felt that he has won the match against his political opponents and achieved his objective of drawing attention of the international media to the issue of drone attacks and loss of hundreds of innocent lives.
After all, tennis champions like Roger Federer, Peet Sampras, Nadal and various other champions throw their head bands, wrist bands and even tennis rackets and balls to the crowd of fans and audience after they win a grand slam like Wimbledon or US open as a gesture of appreciation.
Champions of other sports like cricket and soccer do the same. After all, Mr Khan was a great cricket player and champion. The sportsman in him woke up on this exciting moment.
So he did it as a gesture of appreciation and goodwill for his supporters and the people of D.I. Khan and Tank. It should be taken in that spirit rather than trying to take a negative view and making a political issue out of it.
ZAHEER AHMED Islamabad Comprmise I AM surprised why the PTI leader took such a decision. We are capable of bringing down drones, using our air force.
The ground reality is that our government and the army have given the permission to the US for launching drones attacks.
Without their permission the US can’t launch such attacks.
It seems that there was a compromise for political gains. There are reports that the US decided that there would be no drone attacks during peace rally hours.
However, if this is true, the peace march was a futile practice.
TARIQ HUSAIN KHAN Karachi
Iraq WILL the US stop drone attacks in Fata after being influenced by Imran Khan’s rally? History tells us that they did not do so in their invasion of Iraq and killed Sadam Hussein.
Imran Khan also knows this well, but to him his electioneering campaign is more important.
