Three passengers hurt in Kurram attack

PARACHINAR, Oct 9: Three persons were injured when militants attacked a passenger vehicle near Paro village in lower Kurram Agency on Tuesday.

The vehicle carrying 20 passengers was going from Parachinar, the administrative headquarters of Kurram Agency, to Peshawar. The passengers said that attackers lobbed a hand grenade at the vehicle and then opened firing, causing injuries to three commuters.

The wounded persons were identified as Kazim Hussain, Muneer Hussain and Arif Hussain. They were shifted to Combined Military Hospital in Thall.

One of the injured passengers was stated to be in critical condition.

Security forces besieged Paro village and arrested 17 persons under the collective responsibility clause of Frontier Crimes Regulation.

The elders of Turi and Bangash tribes condemned the attack and demanded of the government to ensure security to passengers moving from Parachinar to other parts of the country.

In Peshawar, suspected militants blew up a government primary school for boys at Faqirabad Chowk in Badhber area on Tuesday.

A police official said that two bombs were planted under the foundation of the building that went off after at midnight. The blast, he said, damaged the building and furniture.

In Charsadda, a government school was blown up in Malka Dher area on Tuesday.

Sources said that unidentified militants planted an explosive device at the school that went off on Tuesday morning. As a result, the two rooms of building were destroyed completely. The furniture and record of the school was also destroyed.

The Bomb Disposal Squad said that about 5 kilograms of explosives were used in the blast.
