Man booked

CHAKWAL, Oct 9: A man was booked for kidnapping his seven-month-old child from his estranged wife, police said on Tuesday.

Samina Bibi, a resident of Dhairmond village located in Tehsil Talagang, filed a petition with Lahore High Court’s (LHC) Rawalpindi bench stating that her husband, Javed Iqbal, had snatched her child Asar Malik from her.

Samina has been living with her parents after developing differences with her husband.

On the order of LHC, the city police of Talagang have registered a case against the accused. — Correspondent

Norwegian embassy denies

ISLAMABAD, Oct 9: The Norwegian embassy has denied any consideration of facilitating the travel of a young girl detained on charges of blasphemy to Norway.

According to a statement issued by the embassy, it said neither the embassy, nor any other Norwegian authority had any contact with the girl or her family, and there has been no initiative to bring her out of Pakistan. — A Reporter

Wood cutter injured

ATTOCK, Oct 9: A wood cutter was seriously injured by a tandoor owner in Khor town of Pindigheb police station over a monetary dispute.

Police said here on Tuesday that a woodcutter, Azaat Khan, resident of Khor village, alleged that Abdul Manan, a local tandoor owner, had purchased firewood worth Rs14,500 on loan but had failed to pay the money back despite frequent demands.

Mr Manan, assisted by his friend Ajmal Khan, had attacked Azaat Khan with a knife when asked for payment on Monday evening.

Consequently, Azaat sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital. Pindigheb Police have registered a case against the accused. — Correspondent
