Number of polling stations to be increased for next elections: Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim

KARACHI: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim has vowed to take all possible measures to ensure safe and secure general elections, DawnNews reported on Monday.

Speaking to reporters after his visit to the Provincial Election Commission office in Sindh, Ebrahim said that safety and security were key concerns and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) would consider all suggestions and recommendations in this regard.

After overlooking the election preparations underway at the provincial office, Ebrahim said that there will be an increase in the number of polling stations for next year’s general elections.

“We want to make sure the public uses its right to vote in next elections,” the CEC told reporters.

Election officials claim that preparations for the upcoming by-election scheduled for November 17 are complete and the list of candidates will be issued as soon as the filing of nomination papers concludes.
