Posting Muhajir commissioner in Karachi aims at dividing Sindh: Mumtaz

MIRPUR SINDH: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Mumtaz Bhutto contends that removal of a Sindhi and posting a Muhajir as Commissioner of Karachi is the result of imposition of new local government system that aims at dividing Sindh.

Hashim Raza was appointed as new commissioner of the port city of Karachi on Sunday replacing Roshan Ali Shaikh.

Speaking to the visitors at his hometown on Monday, Bhutto said those who have imposed the new LG system for dividing the province are betraying Sindh for lingering their own rule.

According to a press release issued by his spokesman, the former Sindh National Front (SNF) chief said President Asif Ali Zardari, at the start of his rule, had visited the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) headquarter Nine Zero and presented his own Sindhi cap to them as gift.

“I had warned at that time that Zardari has bartered away Sindh, and now my contention proved true,” said Bhutto. “Unfortunately the people of Sindh did not support the SNF’s 26-year struggle for saving the province and preferred begging Rs1000 per month. The result is imposition of new LG system and removal of Sindhi Commissioner from Karachi,” he added.

Commenting on six points of Akhtar Mengal, Mumtaz Bhutto said six-point confederal system proposed by Shaikh Mujeeb-ur-Rehman was aimed at saving Pakistan while Mengal’s six points are meant to bring an end to bloodshed and protect Balochistan from exploitation.

The military generals had also conceded later that country could have been saved by the confederal system, he added.

Commenting on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Bhutto said it was an insult to the Pushtoon nation when Asfandyar Wali, who is son of Wali Khan and grandson of great leader Khan Abdul Ghafar Khan, offers thanks to Zardari for giving identity to the Pushtoons.

Pushtoons have their own identity since centuries and are a nation who ruled the central Asia once, he added.
