ISLAMABAD, Oct 4: Special children need special care and attention to develop their potential to the fullest.
The Ministry of Capital Administration and Development (CAD) is working to ensure the implementation of 2 per cent job quota, which will be reserved for special persons.
It was stated by federal secretary, CAD, Riffat Shaheen Qazi while speaking to participants of the function, “Happiness Day”, organised for special children on Thursday.
“I can assure you of our fullest commitment to resolve issues of special persons at the ministry level. Our efforts to ensure the 2 per cent job quota at all federal organisations will continue.
I would request you all to play your role in encouraging people with disabilities to get registered with National Council for the Rehabilitation of Disabled (NCRD), at the earliest. Societal change is required to attain the status due to special people”, said the secretary. Riffat Shaheen said that registration with NCRD will empower special persons to get Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) and avail the special facilities meant for them. She instructed to make special arrangements for special persons at the federal hospitals like reservation of special desks, parking lots, etc. “But I would say that we need to do a lot for the welfare of special children and people”, she said.
Director General Special Education and Social Welfare, Ghayoor Sultana said that the rehabilitation of persons with disabilities is only possible through involvement of all segments of society for which civil society and corporate sector have to come forward and play a pivotal role for the realisation of rights of one of the most marginalised segments of the society. —A Reporter
