Blast injures security men in Mohmand

GHALANAI, Oct 3: Three security men were injured in a blast near Gora Parai checkpost in Baizai tehsil of Mohmand tribal region on Wednesday.

Sources said that security personnel were on routine patrol when the explosive device planted along the road went off. Three security men were injured in the blast, they added. The injured were shifted to Peshawar for treatment.

Meanwhile, security forces conducted a search operation in Khanzadgan Musakhel area of Baizai sub-division and arrested six suspects.

In Nowshera, a school was blown up by unidentified militants in Akora Khattak area in the small hours of Wednesday.

Officials said that the building of government high school Adamzai was destroyed when explosives planted there by unidentified militants went off.

Police and Bomb Disposal Squad reached the area soon after the blast and collected evidence. Officials said that about six to eight kilograms of explosives were used in the blast.

Sources said that police arrested 11 suspects during a search operation in the area after the incident.

Meanwhile, Akora Khattak police raided the house of Qari Ahmad Ali, considered to be affiliated with Taliban, and recovered weapons from it.

SHO Fazle Subhan said that Qari Ahmad Ali was not present in his home at the time of raid. Police registered a case and started investigation.

In Peshawar, police defused a heavy bomb, planted on Frontier Road near Shaikhan village, on Wednesday.

According to police, the bomb was planted near a flourmill. An official said that the 10-kilogram bomb was planted at a bicycle, probably to target police. The personnel of Bomb Disposal Squad, he said, were called for defusing the bomb. Quoting AIG Shafqat Malik, the official said that it was a powerful bomb and could cause heavy losses.
