LAHORE, Oct 3: A 14- member Indian golf team featuring some senior players arrived in Lahore through the Wagah Border on Wednesday.

The hosts led by Shoaib Bukhari gave a warm welcome to the Indian visitors.

Shoaib along with other accomplished golfers of Lahore have hosted the event in collaboration with the Royal Palm Golf and Country Club and Lahore Gymkhana Golf Club.

The Indian golfers will compete against a 14- member Lahore golf team which will play under the team label ‘Together We Golf.’

The golf players from India include businessmen who regard golf as their passion and consider the occasion as the luckiest moment of their lives and though the competition is likely to produce a contest of quality golf, winning or losing is not too important as the aim is to build friendships over three days.

To get a feel of the golf playing environment in Lahore, the Indians play a practice round on Thursday at the Royal Palm Golf Course, and as this is a norm for all kinds of international golf events, the Indian golfers will go through the exercise, measuring up the golf course and getting a feel of challenges so that they are ready for day one of the competition.

The first day of the competition will be on Friday at the Royal Palm Course where the teams play the alternate shot format.

Thereafter the teams move to Lahore Gymkhana Golf Course to play the remaining two rounds on Saturday and Sunday.

Shoaib Bukahri said that the contest will be held twice a year and ‘Together We Golf team,’ will travel to India after six months as part of the programme.
