SRB raises Rs8bn from services in July-Sept

KARACHI, Oct 2: The Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) collected over Rs8 billion in taxes on services during first quarter (July-Sept) of this fiscal year.

Official sources told Dawn on Tuesday that the board managed to increase the number of taxpayers to 4,284 from 3,471 during the quarter under review.

The revenue target for SRB has been fixed at Rs32 billion for 2012-13, which is 28 per cent higher over the previous fiscal year.

Despite overall slowdown the SRB achieved growth in collection during the July-September quarter.

Sources said that the SBR was striving to further enhance revenue collection by expanding tax base and including more service sectors in the tax net.

Presently most of the collection had been made from port related activities, including customs agents, terminal operators, freight forwarders etc and telecommunication sector.
